Dr Song Zhang

Biography
Dr Song Zhang joined the University of St Andrews in August 2019 as a lecturer in Banking & Finance. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Surrey and a BSc in Biotechnology from Nanjing University. His research interests lie in the areas of banking, entrepreneurial finance, corporate finance and financial reporting. Song has published research papers in leading academic journals, such as the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, British Journal of Management, Journal of Business Research, and International Small Business Journal, among others. His research has captured the interest from the media including the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and has been featured by OpenSecrets (merged from the Center for Responsive Politics and the National Institute on Money in Politics). Song has also authored a chapter in The Oxford Handbook of Entrepreneurial Finance, published by the Oxford University Press. Moreover, his work has successfully attracted funding from the British Academy and the Leverhulme Trust.
Dr Song Zhang has accumulated teaching experience in the areas of financial accounting, financial management, corporate finance, business valuation, financial investment, risk management, research methods, etc. He is a member of the School Ethics Committee and served as the Undergraduate Admissions Officer for the School of Management.
