Support for students with specific learning differences (SpLD)
Updated on: 3 June 2025
Understand what University support is available if you have a specific learning difference (SpLD).
You can get support and advice if you have a specific learning difference, such as:
- Dyslexia
- Dyspraxia
- Dyscalculia
- ADHD
Please complete this online form to contact the University’s Disability Service to discuss your requirements.
The University provides advice on reasonable adjustments and communicates the support that has been recommended to other University services and Academic Schools.
Generally, adjustments to teaching and exams can be put in place for students who have a diagnostic assessment report that has been prepared by an educational psychologist or specialist SpLD assessor, preferably carried out when you were 16 or older.
If you don’t have your diagnostic information, please be prepared to provide any supporting documentation relating to your academic needs, such as previous reasonable adjustments at school, college or another university.
If you think you may have a specific learning difference, a University Disability or SpLD Adviser can help arrange screening and, where appropriate, referrals to an educational psychologist.
For more information, read the University's guidance on academic adjustments for disabled students.
