Café and Courtyard
Fairlie’s Café operates on the ground floor of the Medical School and is typically open from 8am to 4:30pm (times subject to change). You can enjoy breakfast rolls, soup, baked potatoes, sandwiches, home baking, confectionery, and hot and cold drinks — all available to eat in or take away.
You could choose to take away into the school’s courtyard area which as a variety of picnic tables in a small oasis of greenery for the school. This is used as a communal space for relaxing, and also for the Medical School ‘soakings’ for students completing their time with the medical school, a University of St Andrews tradition.
Communal Spaces
There is communal seating situation outside each of the main offices on the second and third floor of the School. This provides a lovely space to chat, have lunch or for any informal meetings.
Disabled-access
The University has a Physical Disabilities and Access Guide and recognises that not all disabilities are visible.
The front door to the Medical School building can be accessed by ramp. There is a lift to all floors located opposite the Booth Lecture Theatre.
Disabled-access toilets can be found in the following locations
- Two are located on Medical School Level One: one in the transit corridor to the physics department. Another is located in the corridor to the right of the tutorial room area which is through the double doors from the café area.
- Two are located on Medical School Level Two: One in the Chemistry corridor (behind the lift). Another is located in corridor off to the right in the research hot-desk office area (this area requires key card access).
- A further two are located on Medical School Level Three: One in the Anatomy corridor (behind the lift). Another is located in the corridor to the right of the office area next to the kitchen (this area requires key card access).
Breast Feeding and Changing Facilities
Located on the ground floor.
Prayer Room
There is a multi-faith prayer room in the North Haugh Campus. It is located on the third floor of the Agnes Blackadder Halls of residence and can be accessed by any faith. Washing facilities are located on the ground floor to use before attending the room on the third floor. Please be aware that you may have to ask a staff member in the halls for a key to access the room.
